my bird fell in cooking oil.....we washed him with soap and his featers are still hard what should i doHELP ME PARAKEET FELL IN SOME COOKING OIL?
God that's not good. Can you try to wash him with some warm water? I think this is pretty urgent, how about u ring up a vet or bird shops to seek for some opinions (hoping that your side now is day time).HELP ME PARAKEET FELL IN SOME COOKING OIL?
Use dish washing soap - like Dawn. It cuts grease. Use a very soft toothbrush and very gently comb his feathers with the toothbrush dipped in dishwashiping soap. Clean in the directions of is feathers - not against them. Rinse - rinse - rinse with luke warm water. Continue until he's clean. Be sure to completely rinse him of the soap. When you're done keep him very warm until he's dry. You could point a lamp into his cage - but cover half of it with a towel so he can get out of the heat if he wants. Don't let him get too hot. Good luck! :)
How in the heck did he fall in cooking oil? Yo always need to monitor your budgie. Never let him in your kitchen area.
warm water place him under a faucet and gently rub feathers with dawn dishwash liquid and constantly do this for a couple minutes. Then get a wash cloth and dry him off with it also a blow dryer is k lowest setting and not too close to him.
You need to be more responsable and if you cant watch it you youldnt have it.
Kimber is right-dish soap to cut the grease may work best. if you don't have any go to the store. The good news, is that once you get the oil off and all of the soap too, he'll be OK since he won't be in the wild and have to fly. keep an eye on him for the next few days, just to make sure he's OK.. Who knows, this may actually be a bonding experience for you two.
good Luck
