Heating cooking oil=Trans fat?

When you heat cooking oil (Canola for instance), does it turn unsaturated fats to trans fats? This was mentioned on a bobybuilder's site.Heating cooking oil=Trans fat?
I remember reading a lot of b.s. on those sites and magazines. It is funny that they will recomend taking andro and have steroid ads in them but tell you not to do something for your health.... that aside you really have to head camola pretty high to get the trans fat (which is a chemical process) that will make them switch form a liquid to a solid. I always recomend cooking with olive and peanut oil since they are better fats but if its in a body building site or add it's probably b.s. trans fats are made by hydrogenation.Heating cooking oil=Trans fat?
No, it doesn't turn unsaturated fat into transfat. Transfat is formed by the splitting of chemical molecules, and this cannot be accomplished simply by regular heating.

Have you ever used cooking oil as a personal lubricant?

I have not.

But I've seriously thought of using maple syrup after all my talking about it...Have you ever used cooking oil as a personal lubricant?

  • Is olive oil suitable for deep oil frying or merely for general cooking?

Not for deep frying. I've tried it--it tasted foul. Use light oil for deep frying. If you have an oil sprayer and really want the olive flavor, then after the food is fried, drain on a paper towel and spray it very lightly with olive oil.Is olive oil suitable for deep oil frying or merely for general cooking?
general, vegetable oil is better for deep oil fryingIs olive oil suitable for deep oil frying or merely for general cooking?
I use it for deep frying its kinda expensive but it works well
Do not deep fry with olive oil. Olive oil has a low smoking point and to get it hot enough to deep fry something, it will burn and taste bitter. Use peanut oil, it has the highest smoking point.
Don't try to use it for deep frying. It burns at higher temperatures and breaks down faster than other more versatile oils. Just use it for general cooking and enjoy it's subtle flavor.
Olive oil is not for deep frying at all. You can use it in your salad, in place of butter on your toast. It really is not a cooking oil, per se. Have a nice evening.
Light olive oil can be used for deep frying like ';third pressed'; stuff, in fact the Italians (Molto Mario says so) use it all the time: however do not use Extra Virgin or any green tinted olive oils, their smoking point is far too low to deep fry with.
No, it's unsuitable for deep frying because it smokes too much.

It's so much more healthy to use it for pan frying and tastes good too. It also has healing properties.
No b/c it burns faster then regular oil. Try just sauteing with olive oil, or brushing it on your food and grilling or broiling. I have deep fried boneless breast in a skillet before, my chicked was a bit hard. So I popped it in the broiler to regain its moisture and tenderness, damn I love food.
i wouldnt do it just because of the overly heavy flavor and the fact that its much more expensive to use then say some regular veggie oil, but it can be done!!
Olive oil has a lower smoke point than other oils like vegetable oil, so if you have your fryer temp to high it will make the food you are frying taste bad, I wouldn't use it to deep fry
This would be a very expensive way to deep fry. Olive oil is best for general cooking, and is more healthy if not heated at all, but used as a dressing or added at the the end of the cooking process
use olive oil for general cooking, besides being really expensive to fry stuff in ,it does give fried food a funny flavor sometimes
u can use olive oil to deep fry but add a little more seasoning to the stuff u are frying. i wouldnt recommend using olive oil to deep fry the food sometimes taste different . use canola oil instead...
Oh no, it has too low of a smoking point for deep frying.
Olive oil has a lower smoking point, so most people don't use it to deep fry, plus it is more expensive. I have used it before in a pinch, and it worked but not as well as vegi oil.
No. Olive oil is perfect for drizzling, light saute and for brushing on something that you are grilling. Its fragrant aromatics would be lost in a deep fryer and you just wasted all that oil.

Olive oil has a low smoking point, which means that it thins out too quickly under high heat. You would have to keep adding more oil to accomplish a deep fry.
    General cooking.

Deep frying with olive oil (esp virgin olive oil) imparts an 'olivey' taste to foods. Some combinations end up tasting like sh1t.
no Olive oil is not very good for frying, but is excellent for every thing Al's, probably the best of all oils you can yous it but D's not mack frying very crispy,Becca's D's not ho ll the heat over 350* the best oil for frying is soy bean
    its for general cooking
Olive oil cannot stand high heat like vegetable or corn oil. Its not meant for deep frying but for adding flavor to foods.
if only popeye could hear the things you were saying...
I would use vegetable oil to fry something. If you do use olive oil let me know how it turns out. :)
Olive oil has a lot of flavor and is very heavy. It is not a good oil to deep fry most things.
I use it all the time to fry as well

I use it for shallow pan fry the most vs. deep fry cause it does cost a bit more.
i think just for cooking cause it gots flavor in it , but u might be able to use it for deep frying
It's no good for deep frying. Smokes too much.

You need the lighter clear oils.
I have never used olive oil for deep frying, I have always used Crisco in the can. I do use it for frying cutlets and other things, I would think if you used olive oil for deep frying, there would be a distinct flavor, not like the flavor of vegetable oil or Crisco. But that's only my opinion.

after writing the above, I decided to check it out please go to the above site and see why its not a good idea to deep fry with olive oil.
No No No way deep fry in olive oil. Also, don't ever let it get too hot--it changes the flavour. yukky
No, it's burn point is too low for most deep frying.
general cooking. you want to use peanut, vegetable or canola oil for deep frying.

What wil happen if i put 2 ltr cooking oil in with 10ltr diesel in my mitsubishi delica 2.8 td, cooked/uncookd

no mods to engine and has anybody done thisWhat wil happen if i put 2 ltr cooking oil in with 10ltr diesel in my mitsubishi delica 2.8 td, cooked/uncookd
It's best to use used cooking oil and filter it to get all the lumps and crap out, It won't be any different from using diesel except on cold mornings it will be harder to start due to the cooking oil solidifying slightly.

It isn't illegal... But if you do it by law you have to pay around 36p a litre... Which is bloody stupid! What wil happen if i put 2 ltr cooking oil in with 10ltr diesel in my mitsubishi delica 2.8 td, cooked/uncookd
The engine will run just fine, maybe a little smokey, but no harm done. It would however be illegal to use it on the road
makes no difference to the performance of the engine, as said before, filter out the dross and way to go. You might start to smell like a chippy which will alert the police. Fellow on top gear ran an 80's merc from Blackpool to East coast purely on waste chip fat - caused him no problems.
u can run most deisels on cooking oil iff u use used oil mke sure u filter it i run i peugot 405 turbo deisel on pure cooking does no harm but u better mixing with some deisel in the winter say 1 litre to 4 cooking oil happy cheap fuel at tescos
it will work JUST FINE !
think you need a special filter. it is also illegal.
    it will smell loverly

tax man will know what you're doing
you can run 10 per cent veg oil (unused) in any diesel engine, best to check with a bio-diesel website first tho`. it is not illegal to use it but you must pay fuel duty on it. in France by law all petrol stations have to sell their diesel with a percentage of bio-diesel included.
Your making some very cheap and nasty biodesil there, its not going to be that good for your vehicle or the environment I may add.

Usually you take cooking oil used or unused and strip out the glycerin i think it is then you can use:

    http://www.schnews.org.uk/diyguide/howto鈥?/a>

Set up the equipment and go collect the oil for free from the local chinese restaurant, they'll love you long time.
the tax man says if you pay for the oil , you must pay him about 36 per litre, BUT if you were to get it free i.e. from a chippy or curry house etc, you pay nothing , so i believe but you must strain it first through the finest mesh you can get, and possibly add another filter to your fuel line.

    happy and cheap motoring.
nothing will happen your car will just smell like a mobile chippy

Oiling my cricket bat? Does it has to be Linseed oil or can i use regular oil for cooking?

wat to do guysOiling my cricket bat? Does it has to be Linseed oil or can i use regular oil for cooking?
Dude! DO NOT use cooking oil! Linseed oil is the only thing you can use. Cooking oil will wreck your bat, it will absorb way too much in the wood and will make the willow really soft. This would mean that there would be much more dents and cracks occuring in your bat.

So use Linseed oil. Nothing else.Oiling my cricket bat? Does it has to be Linseed oil or can i use regular oil for cooking?
EeeeeeeeeW! Cooking oil? lol,you will have the woodworms all excited. Cooking oil tends to go strange after a while so I wouldn't put it on my bat. Linseed is best IMO.
you must use linseed oil. cooking oil is completely different. you may as well use engine oil. oils ain't oils as the old tv commercial says
want to know all about Cricket just visit http://www.questioncricket.com
i have had the same cricket bat for 7 years and never oiled it once

so not only do i not know but i dont see the point
IF U WILL OIL THE BAT THEN WAT WILL HAPPEN

    NOTHING
I think u should use Linseed oil

    I am positive

    Substitute for cooking oil?

Im on a strict diet and I like to make lemon chicken on the stove alot. Is there anything else besides cooking oil or butter that I can use to cook the chicken? Ive tried pam but the chicken still seems to stick to the pan alot. Any advice because the oil adds way to much fat and calories, ThanksSubstitute for cooking oil?
The vegetable oil will be healthier than butter. If you are just using it as a sautee oil, you should be fine. In fact, 1 TBSP of vegetable oil a day is perfectly ok.

Pam is not a food, the chemical propellant used is toxic, but they don't put a label on it because the FDA said that its ';not food'; and so they don't regulate it. (this was on the news a while ago) I use Pam VERY scarcely because it is synthetic.

Olive Oil is also not an ok sautieeing oil and shouldn't be used for high-heat cooking, only cold salad dressing, pastas, sauces, etc. (its ok for re-heating or for cooking something in the microwave every once in a while, but I don't use it to sautee) The characteristics of the oil change under such a high heat.

You should use a specialty high-heat oil like Safflower (not canola) oil for sauteeing. An even better oil is coconut oil, but you will get the slight taste of coconut (depending on the dish, this may not be a problem though). Peanut oil is a grey area. It lends a strong peanut taste to the dish, but it is a good high-heat oil, however it has more fat than coconut or safflower oil (I use it rarely).

I use Spectrum brand safflower oil for all my sauteeing, and as a substitute to butter or cooking/canola oil in recipes. It tastes and looks exactly the same, but has a better tolerance for high-heat cooking.

If you us 1-2 TBSP of safflower/high-heat oil to grease the pan, that won't add many extra calories since you aren't eating the whole 1-2 TBSP, it just lightly coats the chicken. All vegetable oils that are liquid at room temperature are the good kind of polyunsaturated fat. Butter is saturated fat, and margerine is hydrogenated trans fat (very bad). So oil is a very reasonable butter substitute, and 1-2 TBSP is necessary in a healthy dietSubstitute for cooking oil?
You may think this sounds crazy but try white vinegar.I thought it sounded awful but I tried it and its GOOD,it doesnt have a real strong vinegar taste like you might think it would and its healthy.
Steam your dish. I make lemon chicken by putting sliced lemon rounds of one or 2 lemons, some soy sauce and sone Stevia over pieces of chicken (without skin) in a 9'; deep glass pie plate.

No oil is necessary. It's good.
water just add a little water and i will keep it from sticking and not add any fat or calories!!
    olive oil is relatively healthy.
    try grape-seed oil
all u need is a little water
