Cooking oil for roast spuds?

what is the best oil to use for roast spuds, i use a marris piper potatoe but cant seem to find the right oil to useCooking oil for roast spuds?
Try this. Instead of cutting your spuds in the traditional quarters for roasting. Cut them in half, flat ways, if you know what I mean. Grease a shallow dish, a biscuit dish, with butter. Place the potato flat side down and brush the tops with melted butter. Bake. This gives you less fat, make them as crispy, or not, as you like. Bewdiful!!!

And much healthier. I often sprinkle grated cheese on top for the last 10 minutes.Cooking oil for roast spuds?
I found that olive oil works well for me. Make sure the oven is at top temperature if possible, but if it have to share the oven with the meat, make sure your potatoes can go on the top of the oven, that's where it's hottest. Heat the oil until you can smell it, then take out and put the parboiled (10 minutes) potatoes as quickly as you can, and baste them well. Place in the oven for 30 minutes, take out, flip them and give them another 20 minutes.
I'd suggest olive or canola oil.

I just recently heard of ';Orville Reddenbacher's popcorn oil.'; Sounds interesting, like maybe it has a butter flavor to it. Haven't tried it yet, but another advantage is it probably has a very high smoking point.

Good luck!
goose fat is the best stuff to use.

If you don't fancy that then....

pop your peeled spuds in a pan of water and bring to the boil.

Boil for a couple of minutes.

drain.

toss the spuds in a little flour.

Toss in a couple of spoons of sunflower oil.

Roast.
any oil will do

i use garlic infused olive oil from Tesco they are great

also use duck fat you get this beside the butter in most supermarkets
Apparently top chefs use animal fat - sorry if you are vegetarian or on a low fat diet. I too had difficulty with oils and so now resort to good old fashioned lard which always delivers the best roasties!
Par boil them first then coat them with a very light olive oil. The flavor is mild so it won't compete with any other herbs or seasonings that you decide to use.
Crisp n Dry is the best. To get them really crispy par boil them for a few minutes first and rough up the edges, then put them in hot oil in the oven.
just use sunflower of vegetable oil they work fine for me or use half olive oil have veg or sunflower

a good tip is to get the oil hot before you put in the potatoes
I most always use sunflower oil and never seem to have a problem, crispy roast potatoes every time.
I just made them tonight and any sunflower oil is perfect really - you don't need a very expensive oil
it seems all my family who are old enough to cook including myself use crisp N dry solid
