I know it's a dumb question..
but I'm making these vegan brownies and the recipe calls for vegetable oil. We don't have any and I can't drive or bike because I'm 15 and if i biked it would be dark by the time I headed back.
Would it be okay to use regular cooking oil or canola instead of the vegetable oil or would that ruin the recipe?Cooking question...I'm supposed to use vegetable oil...but i only have canola and regular oil?
Regular oil and canola oil ARE types of vegetable oil. So, yes, it would be fine to use either of these types of oil. And no, it won't ruin the brownies.
Edit: Don't feel bad. When I first started cooking, I was the worst cook in the world... and I do it for a living.Cooking question...I'm supposed to use vegetable oil...but i only have canola and regular oil?
Regular cooking oil is usually refer to as vegetable oil. Then there are Canola oil, Corn oil, which are also fine with what you are making. Vegetable oil are actually made of by product vegetable from canola, corn and other vegetables that can be made into oil - which is why is much cheaper. It also has higher tolerance for heat. Okay, that's your cooking oil 101 for now.
Canola is vegetable oil, %26amp; probably your regular oil is too. Read labels.
Oh my gosh, stay in the house ! What you have is fine, if you are an aspiring chef, experimentation is great ! Good luck !
